The Supreme Court case that established the principle that Court could declare acts of Congress unconstitutional was Marbury versus Madison case. This was the first case in united states history in which the supreme Court struck down on an act of Congress and declared it unconstitutional. This case happened in the year 1803. The unanimous court decision was written down by the Chief justice John Marshall.
