Why have the pyramids of Egypt survived whereas the ziggurats of Mesopotamia have not?

Well, ziggurats were usually made of baked and fired mud bricks, where the pyramids of Egypt were made of stone. Mud bricks are more degradable, so the structures were not as enduring as the pyramids.
