Here's a neat property for exponents:
(a^b) / (a^c) = a^(b-c)
Using this property, we have
(8^n) / (8^7) = 8^(n-7)
8^(n-7) = 8^2
n-7 = 2
n = 9
That's the answer for question 1. I can't seem to see question 2...
