McCarthy's helpers Joseph Mcarthy had helpers in the HUAC committee who was promoted by the Motion Picture Industry Council, his name was Roy M. Brewer. This also included John Garfield and Dalton Trumbo, both whom had volunteered to act as observers for the studio pickets in the Conference of Studio Unions strike.
