Look at the number one digit to the right of the ten thousands place, the thousands place. Since the number is greater than five, the ten thousands place goes up one digit and everything to the right becomes zeroes. If it were less than five, it would stay the same and all the numbers to the right would become zeroes. 16,500 rounded to the nearest ten thousand feet is 20,000
