The ratio of two numbers is 5 to 3, and the sum of these numbers is 32. What is the greater of the two numbers?

with a ratio of 5:3, there are 8 parts total ( 5+3 =8)

total = 32

so 32/8 = 4

 5*4 = 20 and 3*4 =12 20:12 = 5:3 The greater number is 20
