In general protists and bacteria share common ancestory which means they are somehow interlinked or have similar features..They features they share include:
 
*they both first transcribe section of their DNA code into RNA then translate this RNA into protein using complex structures called ribosomes.

*they also have cell membranes made of chemicals called phospholids.
