Please help solvingredients system of equation -5x+y=-3; 3x-8y=24

Multiply the first equation by 8 and then add the two equations together...

-40x+8y=-24
+3x-8y=24
__________
37x=0

x=0, using either equation to solve for y, -5x+y=-3 becomes, y=-3

So the solution to the system of equations is the point:

(0, -3)
