The answer should be flappers. Flappers were women who desired social equality and believed women should be able to enjoy themselves socially just as much as men did. They happily defied American womanhood by declaring social equality, redefining acceptable social behaviours through their dresses, approaches to courting or dating, and fascination with public drinking.
