A helium balloon has a pressure of 40 psi at 20°C. What will the pressure be at 40°C? Assume constant volume and mass.

Answer:

P V = N R T     ideal gas equation

P2 / P1 = T2 / T1       where the other variables are constant

P2 = (T2 / T1) * P1 = (313 / 293) * 40 psi = 42.7 psi
