Amy and Jack have candies in a ratio of 1:3. Together, they have a total of 40 candies. How many candies does Amy have?

Amy has 10 candies.

Jack has 30 candies.

1 out of 4 is Amy's

3 out of 4 is Jack's

Amy's = 1/4×40=10

Jack's = 3/4×40=30
