Rapid defibrillation refers to the process by which an electronic device is used to send electric shocks to the heart in order to restore irregular heartbeat to normal heart rhythm. Rapid defibrillation is important to the survival of sudden heart attack victims because it is the single, most effective treatment for sudden cardiac arrest. It is most effective if it applied within the first few minutes of sudden cardiac arrest.
