to increase an amount by 35 percent, what single multiplier would you use?

I am thinking the answer u want is 1.35......but there is another way to do this....

lets say u have 50...and u want to increase it by 35...

50(1.35) = 67.50

another way....
50 + 0.35(50) = 50 + 17.5 = 67.5
