What role did President Truman play in the area of civil rights?

President Truman wanted to make discrimination against black less serious. But the Presidential Committee for Civil Rights did not listen to him. He tried again and then was successful in issuing an executive order that forbid discrimination in the army, the navy, with businesses that worked closely with the federal government and civil service jobs.
