x = -4

Step 1: Take all the constants on one side and the variables on the other.

(2 × x) + 12 = 4

=> (2 × x) = 4 - 12

(2 × x) = -8

Step 2: Divide 2 both sides to isolate 'x'.

=> [tex]\frac{2x}{2}[/tex] = [tex]\frac{-8}{2}[/tex]

=> x = -4
