For this problem, we just have to subtract the initial volume with the volume being used up. But before doing this, it is important that all values have the same units. We calculate as follows:

20 gallons - (4 gallons + 1 quart ( 1 gallon / 4 quarts)) = 15.75 gallons of gasoline in the gas tank
