Function 1 (the table) has a slope of -2.

This can be calculated using the slope formula, [tex]m = \dfrac{y_2-y_1}{x_2-x_1}[/tex].  Using (-1,3) and (-2,5):

    [tex]m = \dfrac{5-3}{-2-(-1)} = \dfrac{2}{-1} = -2[/tex]

Function 2 (the graph) has a slope of about 3.5.

It's hard to know for sure with the blurry picture.  If you go from (-1,0) to the y-intercept at about (0,3.5), that gives you a rise of 3.5 and a run of 1, so a slope of 3.5.

3.5 is a greater rate of change than -2.
