We want to know te number of oil changes you need to do in one year if you drive 1,000 miles per month.

Ok; in a year there are 12 months, and in each month you drive 1,000 miles.

then in a year you drive: 12*1,000 miles = 12,000 miles.

and each 4,000 miles you do an oil change, so in a year you make: 12,000/4,000 = 3 oil changes.
