Metaphor enhances and makes the images described by the author more creative and interesting. It also makes the story sounds poetical without have the story in verses. It can help to give a more vivid idea of what the author intends while using fewer, or better, words then with a simple description. Metaphors must not just be creative, but also suitable to the story and the mood intended to be portrayed.
