Algae is the right answer.

The term "algae" incorporates many simpler eukaryotic organisms that  can perform photosynthesis. Algae have chlorophyll molecules that help in the process of photosynthesis. The characteristics that represent a land plant lacks in the algae, for instance, flowers, leaf-like formations, roots, stems and other structures found in vascular plants.
