We can write it like this:

8/4 = -7/4 + 1/4  x

We multiply by four the two sides  and get

8 = -7 + x

We can sum 7 to both sides

8 + 7 = x

x= 15

We can replace to see if it's correct

-7/4 + 1/4 * 15 = -7/4 + 15/4 = 8/4
