Answer:

126 grams of C

Explanation:

Molar mass of C = 12

Molar mass of H = 1

In methane (CH4) the ratio of the masses of carbon to hydrogen is given as;

C : H  =  12g : 4g = 3g  : 1g

This means there is 3g of C to 1g of H. If there are 42g of H, how many C..?

3 = 1

x = 42

x = 126 grams of C
