By Newton's second law, the net force on the object is

F = m a

F = (2.0 kg) ((3.0 i + 4.0 j ) m/s²)

F = (6.0 i + 8.0 j ) N

which has a magnitude of

F = √((6.0 N)² + (8.0 N)²) = √(100 N²) = 10 N
