The octet rule “group of 8.”

The octet rule states that there can be a maximum of 8 electrons in each shell except the first one. The first shell can only hold 2 electrons. For example, let’s say you had an element that had 11 electrons. We would have to put 2 electrons in the first shell, 8 electrons in the second shell and 1 electrons in the last shell.
