Explanation:

According to the google dictionary, Chlorophyll is a green pigment, present in all green plants and in cyanobacteria, responsible for the absorption of light to provide energy for photosynthesis. Its molecule contains a magnesium atom held in a porphyrin ring.

This says that chlorophyll is responsible for absorbing light. That is why it is so important because without sun, there would be no photosynthesis.

Hope this helps!

Please tell me if this is wrong. My most sincere apologies if it is.
