If a capped syringe at room temperature is plunged into ice cold water, in what direction will the syringe piston likely slide? Assume the pressure of the air inside remains the same. A. in B. out

B. Out. As the syringe goes deeper into water, although the pressure of the air does not change, the water pressure gets denser and denser, this causes the air to want to expand to fill in the space around it and as such pushes the piston out. I think. Please double check that.

The correct answer is A. In. I had this same question and chose answer B, that was wrong so A would be the correct answer.
