The importation that was most important to the Egyptians was wood.

Ancient Egypt settled in the banks of the Nile River. But in general, all the Egyptian territory is desert. From Lower Egypt to Upper Egypt, the constant is desert. There were some palm trees in the Nile and some oasis. But that was it. So there were no trees at all. Egyptians needed wood for many things in their daily lives and that is why they had to import wood from other regions.
