Answer:  Atmospheric pressure varies with altitude.

The atmospheric pressure is the "weight of air," the higher it is (like in a mountain), the smaller the air column above your head, the lower the pressure; The lower it is (as at sea level), the larger the air column above your head, so the greater the pressure.
