why does multiplying a number by 3 1 /2 increase its value?​

Answer:

Multiplying by 1 gives the same number, while multiplying by a number lower than 1 decreases it, but more than one increases it, because it is adding more to itself.  For example, if you make multiple of a number, you increase it.  Like duplicating something.

Because and number bigger then 1 increases the answer while a number under 1 decreases. Hope that helped
