For this case, we have by definition, that the standard equation of a parabola is:

[tex]y = ax ^ 2 + bx + c[/tex]

This equation can also be written in the "vertex form":

[tex]y = a (x-h) ^ 2 + k[/tex]

Where:

The vertex of the parabola is the point (h, k)

In this case we have:

[tex](h, k) = (-5,4)[/tex]

So:

[tex]y = a (x - (- 5)) ^ 2 + 4[/tex]

If a <0 opens down

If a> 0 opens up

Answer:

[tex]y = a (x + 5) ^ 2 + 4[/tex]
