Most of the Himalayan rivers originate from the snow covered Himalayan mountain ranges. During rainy seasons these rivers receive water from rains crated by southwesterly monsoon winds. On the other hand during the summer the snow in the sources of such rivers melts providing a continuous supply of water. Himalayan rivers hence has water throughout the year from either melted snow or rain making them perennial.
