The previous answer incorrect. While ATP is a form of energy that living things use to function, the original source for any form of energy on earth (including) ATP is sunlight from B. the Sun.

Our bodies get ATP from chemical energy from plants and animals that we eat and all of that comes from the starch in plants which is made using photons from sunlight.
