Now we need to find a number that is three hundred thousand bigger than this:

This is 300,000 times 1.6x10^2 or 300000*1.6x10^2 = (3x10^5)*(1.6x10^2) = (3*1.6)x10^(5 + 2) = 4.8x10^7

then the number 4.8x10^7 is three hundred thousand times larger than 1.6*102.
