How does the movement of particles in a stick of butter differ from the movement of particles in a dish of melted butter

The molecules in a stick of butter are closer together. (It is in solid phase). When the butter melts, it is turning into a liquid, making its partacles more lose and spread apart. In liquids, the intermolecular forces are weaker, while in solids they are much stronger.
