2/5 = 8/n

Cross multiply:

2 *n = 5 *8

2n = 40

Divide both sides by 2:

n = 40 / 2

n = 20

n = 20

One way is to use the method of ' cross multiplication '

[tex]\frac{a}{b}[/tex] = [tex]\frac{c}{d}[/tex] ⇒ ad = bc

Hence 2n = 8 × 5 = 40

divide both sides by 2

n = [tex]\frac{40}{2}[/tex] = 20
