The ages of Rahul and Haroon are in ratio 7:5. Four year later the sum of their ages will be 56 years.Find their present ages.

A : x/y = 7/5

then 》
A : x = 7y / 5



B : x + 4 + y + 4 = 56
then 》
B : x = 48 - y


from A & B 》
7y / 5 = 48 - y
7y = 240 - 5y
12y = 240
y = 20


from A ,
x / y = 7 / 5
x / 20 = 7 / 5
x = 28


hence ,
rahul ' s age = x = 28
haroon ' s age = y = 20

Let r = Rahul's age and h = Haroon's age. Then:-

r = 1.4h ( because 7/5 = 1.4)

r + 4 + h + 4 = 56

r + h = 48

Substituting r = 1.4h:-

1.4h + h = 48

h = 48 / 2.4 = 20

and r = 48 - h = 48 - 20 = 28

So answer is Rahul is 28 and Haroon is 20 years old at the present time.
