No, if you reduced 4/10 it would be 2/5, not 1/4. The the answer to your question is no.

Also 2/5 is equivalent to 0.4 and 1/4 is equivalent to 0.25.

The answer is NO

[tex] \frac{4}{10} [/tex] is the same as [tex] \frac{2*2}{2*5} [/tex]

When the twos cancel out, you are left with [tex] \frac{2}{5} [/tex] which is not equal to [tex] \frac{1}{4} [/tex]
