Hello!! Errors in protein misfolding are responsible for some diseases such as Alzheimer's Disease (AD) and Sickle Cell Anemia. For misfolding in AD, it results from cutting of a protein called beta amyloid into pieces of a certain size. The proteins misfold, attach, and accumulate, forming structures called plaques in parts of the brain controlling memory and cognition.
