how do you solve x/5+9=4

Hello!

To solve we will isolate the variable on one side by removing the constants by using inverse operations as seen below.

x/5+9=4
x/5=-5
x=-25

Just to check, we will plug it into the original equation.

-25/5+9=4
-5+9=4
4=4

This equation is true, therefore x=-25.
