3) We can simplify the equation by getting rid of the denominators. We can do this by multiplying each term by 5:

3p + 8 = 5

Solve for p:

3p = -3

p = -1

----------------------------------------

4) Cross multiply:

4(w+14) = 3(4w+6)

Distribute:

4w + 56 = 12w + 18

Solve for w:

56 = 8w + 18

38 = 8w

w = 38/8

Reduce:

w = 19/4
