In order for a fictionalized story to be based on real events, the author should indicate HISTORICAL MATERIALS.
Historical materials gives the timelines of the period when the events actually take place. Historical materials also contain important historical information about an event. Thus, a fictional story can be based on true life events by including in it historical materials.
